Members leaving

It's always difficult for me when members leave the site. Today two members I admired greatly disappeared without a word, and I have no idea why.

I'm sitting in a bit of shock, with a sense of loss and curiosity that has me feeling sad and achy. I guess as a new site owner, this is something I'm going to have to get used to. Getting attached to members, and then seeing them go.

I'm sure some of you were also touched by those who have left in some way, and if not this time, a time may come when someone you admire leaves.

I will never track down a member that has gone after they do to try to find out what happened or get them to return to the site. I have great respect for peoples decisions and privacy, and I assume usually that if they don't tell me something, it's because they don't want to. So as much as it may be information I want to have, it's not information that I feel entitled to over another's right to their own choices around privacy.

Likewise, if a member has told me why they have left, but not announced to the site over all, I won't pass on that information to you. In this case I don't know what happened and don't have information to share, but if I did, I would only do it if I had the permission of those who had left.

That being said, if for some reason any of you reading this decide to leave at some point, please consider letting us know why. Not just myself, but the membership as a whole. I would rather negative opinions about myself and/or the site, than people just disappearing into the ether.

The good news is we have also welcomed many wonderful new minds and spirits.

O Leila, I feel you. But after being a member of a few sites, now and have experienced some really crazy stuff, also sadness and loss that people I care about leave. Sometimes its just time for them to move on. Often they have done what they were here to do and feel the need to spread their wings. And depending on the cycle of the path they choose to walk they may come back.

So dont be sad, just know if they touch your mind and there is endearment for them, then they have done what they were here to do.

Paths diverge and paths merge as two souls or more come together.  No two paths are exactly alike, no two souls will walk the exact footsteps, but for a time, they can come together and walk side by side for a time.  Like snowflakes, each and every one of us is unique to ourselves and just like a snowflake, each is beautiful in its own way.  For a time, we can come together and walk together, but eventually, it is possible we will go our own way.

 

But what must be cherished is the time spent together.  To wish one well as they diverge from your path to walk their own.  To wish them good fortune, for you never know, that path might lead us back together again with new stories to tell from all that we have learned along the way.

 

It is always sad to see people go, for we love and care for them, but we just in our hearts, must allow them to go.  One day, our paths will merge back together and then we can share once again.  But I hear you.  sudden disappearances are never fun.

all of the friendships I have made here have all been wonderful.  It is far more than some 2D friendships for it is that connection to people that have similar thought patterns as myself.  It gives me comfort knowing, I'm not funky in my thoughts, because there are others who I can be 'funky' in thoughts with. :D  So whenever anyone leaves, unannounced for whatever reason it may be, especially if I cherish their friendship hurts.  It's sad.. for sure.

 

Some of my best friends have been built on websites similar to this and we have been good friends for over a decade.  I have seen romances blossom from websites like these (one in which a marriage has happened and another with a marriage, soon to become reality).  So of course I feel, they are very much more than just casual place of connection.

awe.. my heart is saddened at his leaving. :(  But I still wish him well.  He always added stuff I enjoyed reading very much.  He definitely has been a positive force in my opinion in what he offered the site.  I wish him well on his journey.
