Beautiful day today... Last year when the roses started blooming, I awoke one morning to the cooing of a dove, sitting amongst the blood red buds of my roses. The dove came and went a few times, and soon was spotted with a mate. Over the winter I didn't see them.

This Easter Monday, the doves have returned, together, cooing and pecking in the seed under the birdfeeders.

So beautiful, pretty little pale ring necked doves...

I didn't get a great shot of them, hard to do taking a picture through the back glass sliding doors, I wasn't feeling well enough to try to get closer, and really didn't want to scare them away on their first visit of the spring.

OneCrow, I could always get a variety that could be kept indoors, but I wouldn't feel right about it, these are birds that are naturally heavy fliers and I believe they really need to have that freedom of open sky. My dream is still one day to live on small acreage and be able to rescue more animals of all kinds, then I could get my fill of all the feathered, furry and scalies, lol.

OneCrow, yes, the cooing, is wonderful :) It reminds me a little of the cat's purr, it has that vibrational quality that you kind of feel inside your own body. If we were allowed to keep fowl here, I would probably get a couple of large variety pigeons/doves (not to mention chickens, etc) but our by-laws here don't allow it. Even though we're pretty much in the country. We're in the city part of it. lol.

Lol, yes, that's how I feel about snow, beautiful to look at... not so nice to actually be out and about in, for me anyways.

Desert is beautiful too, I was in Maricopa AZ a couple of years ago and loved all the warm rich colours everywhere. :)
