Battle Scars

[L. Love]

She carries the heavy load
around with her.
Many see the load 
but never allowed to see it.
It is her precious bundle
she has carried all her life
with her 'emotions' and 'heart'
inside protected.
She never shares, never speaks
never shows her cargo.
She examines it once in a while
and although heavy
and pains her
she still carries it.
This is hers.
This is her battle scars
things in life that have carved
out who she now is.
She is afraid, ashamed.
She is afraid to let anyone see.
And yet she still carries it.
All she has to do is drop it
Open it to the light 
and become free.
One day perhaps
but not yet.
