Universal Balance

Its interesting to note as the Catholic Feast Day of St Patrick approaches on 17th March, that while Ireland is predominantly catholic, it also holds true to its history of magic and mysticism.  This can be seen in most of the stories of the Saints and other clerics that visited Ireland.

The conversion of Ireland and other areas around it came at the expense of its connection with the Goddess and other deities.  Many of these have passed into folklore although one such Goddess, Brigid, is still celebrated although in her Christian form as St Brigid.  Its interesting to note that her feast day is 1st February, the same day as Imbolc, also her pagan festival.

While my profile page to some may appear to reflect the irishness of the country I live in, in reality it reflects my Celtic/Nordic past.  While I have changed it as the Feast Day of St Patrick approaches, it reminds me of all that was lost when 'human society' moved from a balanced male/female society to a patriarchal society.  It reminds me that the Goddess is also in my life and that the scales seem to finally be tipping back to some kind of balance.  It reminds of the Universal Balance...male/female, law/chaos, dark/light, Lord & Lady.

May 'human society' also remember this balance as we move into this new era of our history.
