I think breaking can be a rather beautiful thing, don't you? When a tree grows brittle and falls, it crackles as it's heart tears. Like it is laughing at all the other trees, making its leaves chuckle and rustle with it. An inside joke about the strength we believe we have when we are whole. Whenever a moment like this occurs I tend to stare at the little text box with some level of confusion and resistance. it seems to both acknowledge the complexity of "selfhood" and yet also confines it within the limitations of language, fractured social arrangements, and this teeny tiny box. It is problematic in a way that amuses me as it is so very human.
I often tell those closest to me that my name was created to encompass all that I was, am, or ever will be. My name is the only thing that does not entirely constrain or limit me, its field containing the most space for my "selfhood" than any other form of verbal communication could offer you.
My name is Pan.
Anything else is a journey of discovery and adventure.
