Greeters! can you have too many? I don't think so... let's find out! :)

  • Do you like making people feel good and welcome, a people pleaser?
  • Do you like making or looking for and sharing graphics?
  • Do you like making new friends?

This is probably the most important activity there is on the site is making people feel welcome, and like they have options in terms of people to talk to if they're a little lost on something, have a question, etc.

If you would like to participate in greeting people to the Temple, please do. You don't even need to formally ask to be a greeter, just be one, this is your Temple too!

Greet as many or as few new people as you like. Just check out the Members tab, it lists members by the most recent, so new members are easy to find to welcome.

Quality is more important than quantity. I would rather you leave a few meaningful and personal greetings, than hit everyone up with a form. We have a few greeters now, and myself, who kind of cover the more form style of formal greeting. Ideally, a personal touch is better. Read the profile, find a connection to comment on. If there is a connection that is, of course be genuine, if there's nothing you find interesting don't give someone a false compliment, but take an extra minute to read and give your welcome a personal touch. For example... I see your a gemini too! Welcome. :)

What matters to me is the energy behind the greeting, be genuine. Greet people as yourself, and in a way that you like, and greet the people you feel like greeting. Your greeting can be just text, just image, both, video, whatever you would like to greet people with!

If you would like to friend them... do! worst that will happen is they won't accept... which is rare.

Maybe you remember when you joined the Temple how nice it felt to have people greet you.... :) Let's spread the love, that's what this place is all about.

Vlada, excellent, I see many people out there greeting, and I know how much it's appreciated by new people coming in. :) Thank you.

I haven't had a problem posting my graphic yet on anyones pages, I'm uploading the graphic from my PC. Can I ask when you are unable to post a pic can you tell me exactly what problem you're encountering? The more detail the better, maybe I can figure out some of the ning bugs that the ning technicians like to pretend don't exist.... I guess if the technicians aren't encountering the problem personally... it must simply be the imagination of several hundred ning site owners and a few thousand of their members..... lol.

I'm actually not great at tech stuff and problem solving in this area, but no one else seems to be doing anything, and if I have to I can convince myself I can do anything... seems to have served me alright so far in life. ;)

If you do see people who have profiles that you find un-readable, by all means, let them know. A lot of people create what they feel are very attractive or cool profiles to their senses, and over look the fact that they are not very user friendly. People have various abilities when it comes to negotiating different fonts, People can have trouble reading small print. If English isn't their first language a fancy or written font may be hard for them to make out the words, compared to a more standard blocky font. Often the more decorated or ornate or busy a page, the less user friendly people find it. It may look pretty, but they may not be able to read it, or may find reading it challenging. As long as you're polite, there's nothing wrong in saying, great colour scheme, but unfortunately it's really hard to read, you might think about changing it, because many people won't be able to figure it out.

careful Tazzy, you're showing esoteric knowledge of ways around existing ning bugs... I'm going to start sending people with problems to you! lol.

I love your greetings... It's good to evaluate them though, and change them from time to time. I totally scrapped my technical point by point tips greeting recently for a more non technical non formal one. Honestly, I'm not sure what the 'most effective' or 'most needed' information there is to have in a greeting.. probably it's going to vary from the person getting it... so I say. Do what you feel good with primarily... Now I'm leaning to the idea that most people who are overwhelmed and don't know what to do, or where to get started on the site already feel overwhelmed with information as it is. So instead of having even more information in the welcome. I thought maybe just having more people connecting to someone coming in who is feeling lost, so that they have a few different personalities to choose from asking for help or information from would be ultimately more effective.

Information is only good if it gets read and absorbed by people, the people who are good at getting info from impersonal sources won't need extra impersonal sources listed on their page.. and so it doesn't help them. People who need a more personal source will just overlook the info they need there the same way as they overlook the other places it's available.

Anyways... babbling. :)

Greetings I'm here to love and hopfully recieve love I am short on words, but I promise I will get better in due fractional fluctuation lol.

Um...

Leila,

One thing PeaceNext does that you may have disabled is to automatically notify us when new members join... Or is that something we need to personally enable somewhere in our profiles?

We have been forgetting to greet new people in Temple Illuminatus without those handy little messages in our email...

We have a work-around, sorting the members list by most recent, but we find it far easier with the email notifications enabled.

We gonna go looksee if we can enable locally in our profile now...

<smile>

Um... mebbee we found an easier way, go to member page sort for newest, and then just open a page for each new member to be contacted... not as in our face as email, but less steps to follow...

<smile>

beat me to the answer... you got it, members pages lists people by the most recent, so new members can be found there.
i have been busy greeting..thanks for the heads up.. PhotobucketPhotobucket
would love to greet new members! steve
then do! It's a great way to make friends, and/or just make people welcome... random acts of kindness.. the equivalent of a virtual smile to a new person coming into the room... *smile*

The welcomes for me are kind of by chance but it IS good to hear from someone other than the site founder (no slight to you Leila) within the first day or two. I try to welcome new members of EYE MAGIC as well. The main thing I think is to let them know we WANT their input and contributions and participation. Of course when that stops the site dies on the vine and I've seen it happen the same way more thasn once. Anyway, I'll do what I can when I can. Attached is a greeting that may or may not be useful ( I don't want to scare anyone with images of cyclops yam farmers ). Be well.  marK

Lol, spread your messages of mutated love wherever you're inspired to do so... might as well prepare 'em for you as they walk through the door Bonny one. ;)

I don't want standardized walmart style sanctioned greeting... just want people to be encouraged to be authentic... and that looks like authentic Bonny Saint Bud to me.

Hopefully if people are spooked by someones greeting they'll be reassured by someone elses... ;) Different strokes for different folks. I think it's cool that people see that this site isn't about one 'style', one belief system, one type of person... Meeting people with authentic diversity of greetings is about the most direct way to say hey, this is a place where it's okay to be yourself, and to welcome other people without any masks on.
