How did we get to here?
A long time ago; so close; so near!
No more of this pain can I bear!
You were my everything, my dear!
Now-you yell and scream, but I do not hear!

What has happened to us?
Scream, yelling! So much anger and fuss!
Our words, just cuss!
Remember times we could talk and discuss!
I need to leave! Matters not car or bus!

Have we, for each other, lost respect?
Our relationship-how did it get wrecked?
Is there anything to salvage or correct?
Continue to love our children and protect!
I can no longer allow this-to me- affect!

You know what I say is true!
Stop the bleeding! I do not hate you!
You know what we must do!
No phoenix rises! Nothing to begin anew!
What has happened to me and to you?

It is done!
No dark place to run!
What happened to our lives and fun?
Gone-as in the setting sun!
Sorrow! No one won!
