The Rock and the Fire

Once upon a time a fire burned next to a rock, the shadows it commanded would marvel at it's luminescence as would the smoke and embers above it carried it's legacy into the four winds .... the wood it would burn cringed in amazement, as the fire itself would smirk toward the sun..... the stone, sat un daunted and passive at it's dhadaily exhibits of grandeur and flamboyance...

The fire grew determined to catch the appraisal of the rock... so it sent it's embers onward and grew ... still the stone sat unmoving... and so did the fire grow greater still... as the smoke and shadows stirred like dark spirits worshiping a great inferno .... but still the stone remained.... and as the soot and ashes fell around... the fire began to tire ... and soon lay as a heap of coals gasping for air .... and to this the fire exclaimed to the rock ... "I have burned at my brightest to get a single notice from you... my servants lay still in charred remains and although I have lain waste to an entire glade... you pay me not the slightest praise.... why ?" ....
And the rock said ... I was once part of a great mountain which presided over the whole valley ... majestic and timeless it seemed..  but 'ere did the winds blow... and 'ere did the ground move.. and I had fallen way broken to where I sit today ... a fragment of my former status... I have been, long before the spark which had ignited your life had been..... and though you've burned at brightest... were you not simply content with what you have part of... like I had of this mountain ?" ...
And by the nightfall... the embers of the fire died out .... and the wind carried the ashes away .... but from the intense heat and change in temperature... the stone cracked and a piece ad brokeh away ..... revealing parts of a crystal it held secretly within ......................

Moral: Keep your fire burning, but always know that what you carry inside will reveal itself in due time. How you transform, depends if your heart is fire or stone.
