I See You

We stood on the mountain top
with the river far below
winding its' way
through the village.
I stood to the side of the others
wanting to be alone
with my thoughts.
My eyes followed the flow of the waters beneath me
I
felt the winds playing with my hair
and welcomed the warm sun caressing my
face,
wishing you could stand beside me.
But you cannot.

 

Today, I say goodbye to you
and we set you free in the wind
to take
your place with our ancestors.
Thank you for walking beside me a while on
this journey,
You taught me my medicine
and you taught me that my greatest
medicine..
is love.
And that my first gift given to me, is my own
life
You taught me to honour it and my spirit.
How can I ever thank
you?
Except to walk straight, stand tall,
and radiate the love I saw in
you.
You are me
