Diary of a Liar Chapter 2 Talking With The Devil

   Brady was underneath the forsythia bush again, talking to the Devil. I could see his shoes ( Brady's, not Satan's ) sticking out from under the bush. I guess we all have to meet the Devil sometime in our lives and Brady's devil lived beneath the forsythia bush. My devil, like most children's, lived in the space beneath the basement steps. I was never really sure why the Prince of Darkness liked it there. In order to keep his scaly claws from grabbing my ankles as I went up the stairs, I always bolted up them two steps at a time.  The Devil was quick but the fact I am here today testifies that I was quicker. Of course, once the Devil had you by the ankles you were FUCK OUT OF LUCK for eternity.

That was motivation enough for me to become the quickest little fucker on the block. Eat my dust Horned One !!!

     Anyway....

     I never intruded upon or interrupted Brady's talks with the Devil. Would you ? He never disclosed what was talked about and to question him about it would have cast doubt on his experience. That would have been rude.The Devil, after all,was living under my basement steps too and AT THE SAME TIME !!!!

       Twenty years later I was watching the news and Brady's name and picture came up on the screen. He had been stabbed to death as he was walking from a busstop to home. No motive or suspect was ever found.

       " DEVIL, get your fuckin' hands off my ankles ! "
