Future Vision

Life as we know it is ours to command. I strongly feel that we are entering an age of possibility. Where, in a world we know what we want, we can manifest a reality of vibrant potential. In order to do so, our potential as a whole, must come from a promise we make to ourselves. A conviction where we will be here to realize our dreams, to see a future that cultivates an eye for an eye.See More

Each color has a different vibrational energy that impacts mood, thoughts, feelings and more in ritual and in daily life. There are many ways to use color in magick. Here are just a few examples:

  • You can choose candles or incense burner sand in colors associated with the intent of your spell or ritual.
  • You can write spells, incantations, talismans, and sigils using ink or colored pencils in colors corresponding to the magick you are working.
  • When meditating, you can envision yourself surrounded by light in a color associated with your purpose.
  • You can add food coloring to the water in a ritual bath.
  • You can wear garments having colors corresponding to the desired intention.
The correspondence table below describes the magickal properties associated with a variety of colors.

Color is the base color class in Magick++. It is a simple container class for the pixel red, green, blue, and alpha values scaled to fit ImageMagick's Quantum size. Normally users will instantiate a class derived from Color which supports the color model that fits the needs of the application. The Color class may be constructed directly from an X11-style color string.

Available derived color specification classes are shown in the following table:

Color Derived Classes
ColorRGB Representation of RGB color with red, green, and blue specified as ratios (0 to 1)
ColorGray Representation of grayscale RGB color (equal parts red, green, and blue) specified as a ratio (0 to 1)
ColorMono Representation of a black/white color (true/false)
ColorYUV Representation of a color in the YUV colorspace

ImageMagick may be compiled to support 32 or 64 bit pixels of type PixelPacket. This is controlled by the value of the QuantumDepth define. The default is 64 bit pixels, which provide the best accuracy. If memory consumption must be minimized, or processing time must be minimized, then ImageMagick may be compiled with QuantumDepth=8. The following table shows the relationship between QuantumDepth, the type of Quantum, and the overall PixelPacket size.

Color scale

Several of the coloring methods, including `Beta', `Charge', and `Occupancy', describe a range of floating point values rather than a set of names. These are colored via the color scale, which is a list of 1024 smoothly changing colors. There are many color gradations available. All of them consist of transformations of three colors. For instance, ``RGB'' colors the smallest value red, values near the middle of the scale are green, and the largest values are blue. Colors in-between are linear mixes of the two colors. The list of available gradations is given below.

Table 5.4: Available Color Scale Gradations.
Method Description
RGB small=red, middle=green, large=blue
BGR small=blue, middle=green, large=red
RWB small=red, middle=white, large=blue
BWR small=blue, middle=white, large=red
RWG small=red, middle=white, large=green
GWR small=green, middle=white, large=red
GWB small=green, middle=white, large=blue
BWG small=blue, middle=white, large=green
BlkW small=black, large=white
WBlk small=white, large=black
