To the Wild Things

[Imani]

I spent the night at the river,

I didn't mean to, but as I was walking  along the banks,

I found a small wild patch..... "like me", I  thought

Untamed grass, yellow wild flowers and soft willows grew wherever  they chose to

I lay down in them and waited for the sun to go down.

And when it did, once more, the night sky came alive with light.

The river  sang to me and washed over my spirit

as I looked up and saw something greater  than myself.

I got lost in the stars and they welcomed me,

one small  wild thing, here on Earth

And it was good.
