Thank y'all that welcomed me.

I really don't know what to say about myself, since I don't know anyone here. I'm 68, a disabled Nam vet and a retired registered nurse. I live in the desert, a recluse,I guess. I have some health issues that I have been told are terminal, but I'm still here. There's still lessons I need to learn and things I need to do. My husband (of 31 years) and I run a 501(c)3 non-profit no-kill sanctuary for elderly and special needs animals (farm and exotic). We rescue the abuse, neglected, abadoned, disabled, terminal, etc. and give them a home for the rest of their lives. I guess ya could say we are the end of the road for them. But some were facin' euthanasia when we got them. I don't believe because an animal isn't perfect or profitable, that they are throw-aways, so we try to give them the best of care, treatment and love until it's their time to pass. We believe they are beings with souls, emotions, and deserve a chance at happiness. It's my life's passion to help those that have no choice or voice. I would like to meet those of a like mind.

Thank ya Shana. I appreciate it. I think that bein' able to help these "throw away" animals is a gift given to me. After I see the heart-breakin' condition they are in, when they come to me, I couldn't do anythin' else. It's such a joy to see them a month later. When wounds have healed, weight has been gained and the light is back in their eyes. They begin to trust again. I reckon I can relate to most of it myself. I have been there too. luv, Cougar

Thanks, sometimes I think I am selfish, cause it gives me so much pleasure. To see an animal come in broken physical or emotionally and then watch them begin to trust, to want to live, be free of pain, etc, gives me so much joy. They will greet me when they see me or call for me when they need. I've seen so many animals in such awful conditions and there's just not enough people to champion for them. I know it's what's keepin' me alive, to be needed by the animals is such a gift , I feel honored and it's become my life's passion.
