In the Scandinavian tradition the "Little Elder Mother" is called Hydelmoder which translated means Elder Mother. She is one of a kind spirit guardian of all elder trees everywhere.

This picture was taken in the back yard of our Marysville California home about 6 months ago.If you would just look directly into the center of the tree you should see her. Now I did not see her in the picture at first but upon reviewing it I saw an old lady holding a bird while waring a pointed witches hat. Now it seems that every time I look at the picture she is holding a verity of objects which seem to change on each viewing. I must add that I left libations outside many times for the fae and upon more than on occasion the thimble in which I had put the elderberry wine went missing, only to reappear in a different location some days later.
