05 (The Heirophant)

Now that the Fool has learned about her feminine and masculine sides, she can feel more self confident about sharing her thoughts with others. But how?

The world's religions in all their forms and denominations have one common thread no matter the part of the globe:

THEY ALL UNITE THE INDIVIDUAL WITH THE MANY.

We all want to feel accepted by others whether it be our teacher, family, co-workers, church, or even our pets! The Heirophant is a card that binds us all together...to fit in...to feel like you belong.

"I want to be in that political party, too"

"Comic Con or Blizzcon (for you World of Warcraft junkies)...I just gotta go!"

"The jocks... the burn-outs... the cheerleaders... the geeks... there's a group for everyone."

"LGBT or straight ?"

"Chicago Deep Dish or New York style pizza?"

"Menthol or 100 Lights?"

Whatever the group, we have always wanted to be seen as belonging to something.

Let's look at The Heirophant card again...what do we see?

I see two hands reaching out to the world, a place full of many different "groups" whether they be spiritual, musical, ancestral, artistic, or scientific. These hands belong to the Empress (Left hand) and Emperor (Right hand) which have been realized by the Fool through her journey. By using this new found balance, she is able to look outside her innerself toward others and their lives.

The Heirophant card reminds us that we always need to belong....it's in our nature as social creatures. These are ways for us to stay connected to like minded people like us...through music or dance, religion or science, race or language, football or soccer, Democratic or Republican.

The journey would have ended if not for The Heirophant card. Life has so much more to offer when we look outside ourselves and into the lives of others.
