Faery Tale

My story is beautiful and unwinds like a spool of golden thread.

 

Odd that I was moved to open my writings with this Persian preamble to a fairy tale.

I had not thought of my liife as a fairy tale, although, many have called me Fae

Perhaps it has been one after all.

 

 I have had wicked step mothers, nasty wolves with sharp teeth at the door,

 and a witch or two casting her spells of black magic upon me.

 Lost loves, been locked in a high tower,  and a wicked dragon breathing fire at me.

 Yes, I think maybe fairy tale qualifies.

 

 I wonder how this fairy tale will end, don't they usually have happy endings?

The princess is freed with a kiss from her true love, the knight comes to slay the wretched dragon...

(sorry Dewi.. notice it is a dragon gone bad) Dewi is my spirit guide...

 

There is always such promise at the end of a fairy tale.

A lesson learned, good triumphant over evil.

Maybe that's where the magic comes in, for I think many of us have lived a fairy tale beginning,

it's the ending we long for.

 

I still believe in happy endings, I still look up into the night sky and wish upon a star

and Peter's directions home still ring in my head... "Second star to the right, and then straight on till morning.

And they say, if you don't like your ending, then don't stop there, keep on dreaming

 

I still believe in angels, and fairies, and knights and happy endings
