Clitocybe Alexander's funnel alexandri Some members of the Genus Clitocybe belonging to Tricholmataceae family has anti-cancer potential. An immunomodulatory protein CNL belonging to the ricin B-like lectin superfamily synthesized by CNL also has potential therapeutic applications in treating hematopoietic malignancies (Pohleven et al. 2009).

The ethanolic extract of Clitocybe alexandri was found a very potent inhibitor of the growth of lung, breast, colon, and gastric cancer cell lines (Vaz et al. 2010). The ethanolic extract of this mushroom exhibited significant potency against human lung cancer (NCI-H460) cells. Cinnamic acid was found to be the most potent compound regarding cell-growth inhibition. It was verified that concomitant use of the extract provided the strongest decrease in viable cell number.
