Donald Trump Can’t Stop Scamming Everyone

We are almost three months into the period we'll one day tell our grandchildren about around a fire in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. "And as it all crumbled, people still wrote thousands of words about whether or not Lena Dunham was 'problematic.' What's that? Oh. It was a word we used to describe something or someone that upheld a system of oppression even unconsciously... No, Emperor Trump was worse than problematic."

Sorry about that. Got lost in the vision. Also, enjoy a burger while you can, because if that vision is right, we're all going to be eating a lot of squirrel, as our president, Donald Trump, is a con artist. This is not up for debate. Trump University was literally a massive scam where he conned people out of their money while promising to teach them things that were never taught. And if you thought there was any chance that he would change his scamming ways upon getting elected, well, I have bad news for you.

If you'll recall, before the election, Donald Trump said that he would take no salary as president and instead donate it to charity or back to the Treasury. Well, he's about to get his second paycheck. Where's it going?

MSNBC requested details and documentation about any salary donations from the White House, the Treasury Department and the Office of Personnel Management, which all declined to say whether Trump has donated any of his salary to date. (OPM referred questions to the White House.)

Now, is it possible he is donating his salary? Of course. But let's be real: If he were donating it, he'd be happy to offer proof. And we know from The Washington Post’s great work prior to the election that he has a history of being stingy about donating money.

But is this any surprise? After all, Trump is conning us all right now on, like, eight different fronts. There are the alleged Russia ties. His expensive trips to Mar-a-Lago every. Single. Weekend. There's the fact that Melania chooses to stay in New York, which is costing taxpayers millions of dollars to pay for the Secret Service. And, oh yeah, he's conning us by not having divested himself from any of his businesses. We elected a snake-oil salesman president, and we have to find a way to hold him accountable or our grand kids are going to be way too good at roasting squirrel.
