You found me there , As I was chained 

Against the wall , on the dirt floor 

Like on display,  for them to use  

Never coming around me to care 

Bruised and bleeding is my soul  waiting 

To have someone touch me with kindness 

Not to use me or abuse me, kick me around

I sleep sometimes, mostly with one eye open      

Just one time I would like to sleep in dreams 

That is, if ever I  get the chance to dream 

And not be kicked around as if I were dirt  

Is there even a kind face or hand to touch 

They traded me for a game,, yes they did

All I really ever wanted from them, love

Cold, damp, freezing, hot, scorching sun

I withstood until that  day you saw me

That day you came along to save me 

Wanted the other dog my sister more 

Though you weren't leaving me behind 

You left to return the very  next day

I thought I would never see you again 

You bargained for my life with a game   

Said  grand kids want the game more 

He said take it, didn't like the dog anyway   

For the price of a game a life redeemed
