Kindred Spirit

[Imani]

 

The North Wind has blanketed Earth Mother once more with fresh fallen snow.
and the promise of rebirth just beneath it.

I sit inside the circle I have drawn with a branch from the birch tree. Sacred, loving guardian
who stands tall against the wind and lends its' strength so generously.
I am safe within this place
I feel no cold, I do not feel the winds that whirl around me
I am warm in the blanket of the love that I carry

The sun sifts through a sky that is white and grey
and I lift my face to let the soft flakes fall gently to me
They touch my face like a mother's caress
and there is a sound so peaceful as they fall to the earth

I am surrounded by the strength of trees, protected and accepted as kin
While Earth Mother appears to rest, she now gives attention to the energies below
where life is just beginning again.
I ask to draw from that flow
I ask for rebirth and the nurturing and restorative powers there
She of course gives willingly to the daughter she has come to know so well.

The daughter she has fostered as her own,
the one who stood in her rivers and prayed with her.

I give thanks
I offer my love and it is accepted and returned
I am kindred spirit to the wild places
I wrap my love around me closer and I give thanks
