Thanks so much M. Odd, I feel a lot of these things more vividly as I get older which is encouraging even when the feelings are sad because at least I know my heart still works. marK

i'm glad that u shared them so that i could drink a little from ur unique sacred flowing stream of life. & i'm also glad that u shared them so that u could continue "working it out" 4 ur own sweet precious self. 4 what it's worth, these r just my thoughts, but...well done dear marK.

These are all sad poems, Mark, even the seemingly hopeful expectation of spring carries with it an unmistakeable disappointment, a substitution of green grass for human love.

Your memories of your departed brother, killed in action in what you rightly perceive as a senseless war, and your caring and nurturing mother, though full of love and affection, are also sorrowful.

Sorrow is rightfully a noble and beautiful emotion. Because always it is accompanied by love.

Thank you Jose. Actually my brother died some time after he got home but it was still from Vietnam ( Agent Orange cancer) I had a mother who sang to me everyday when I was very young which she did for all of her children (seven of us). Though my own search for human love has been disappointing (the curse of the hopelessly romantic?) my family memories are full of love and that has kept my heart going forward. Thanks again.  marK
And thank you maryrose for taking the time to check these out and to comment.  marK
