Fears of a Muslim world. - warning disturning content related to systemic child abuse

I was sent this in my email this morning by my mother, who is not a spiritual woman, but a passionate one. She identifies herself as rational scientific minded atheist, and is not affiliated with any belief systems.

I'm still processing this, and thought I would share it.

I have some disdain for how the material is presented, because I'm sure not all Muslims and followers of Islam are represented here. There will be those who follow positive tenants of the faith that find these actions done by other members of the faith reprehensible.

I can understand why this Muslim woman and others out of fear of the extremist and abusive behaviours acted in the name of religion would take this stance, but atrocities have been done in the name of religious freedom and religious rights by many different groups, and I don't belief it is the spiritual/faith that is at fault, but that religion is just often used as a powerful tool by elite powers manipulating world forces.

How do you feel about this? and about the focuses on and implication of world domination, and global corruption?

Is Islam a greater threat in the world than other religious groups? Are we focusing on the right area of interest in trying to protect children of the world? What if anything can be done about things like this? How do we know when we may or may not be recieving doctored information on the internet or are being manipulated... this raises so many different tangents of thought for me.

Joys of Muslim Women

by Nonie Darwish

Being a Muslim woman
This was written by a woman born in Egypt as a Muslim.  This is not hearsay, and it will scare  you. Make sure you read the paragraph (in red) towards the end.

In the Muslim faith a Muslim man can marry a child as young as 1 year old and have sexual intimacy with this child, consummating the marriage by 9.  The dowry is given to the family in exchange for the woman (who becomes his slave) and for the purchase of the private parts of the woman, to use her as a toy.

Even though a woman is abused, she can not obtain a divorce.
To prove rape, the woman must have (4) male witnesses.
Often after a woman has been raped, she is returned to her family and the family must return the dowry.  The family has the right to execute her (an honor killing) to restore the honor of the family. Husbands can beat their wives 'at will' and the man does not have to say why he has beaten her.
The husband is permitted to have 4 wives and a temporary wife for an hour (prostitute) at his discretion.

The Shariah Muslim law controls the private as well as the public life of the woman.
In the Western World (UK) Muslim men are starting to demand Shariah Law so the wife can not obtain a divorce and he can have full and complete control of her.  It is amazing and alarming how many of our sisters and daughters attending American Universities are now marrying Muslim men and submitting themselves and their children unsuspectingly to the Shariah law.
By passing this on, enlightened women may avoid becoming a slave under Shariah Law.

Ripping the West in Two. Author and lecturer Nonie Darwish says the goal of radical Islamists is to impose Shariah law on the world, ripping Western law and liberty in two.

She recently authored the book, Cruel and Usual Punishment: The Terrifying Global Implications of Islamic Law.

Darwish was born in Cairo and spent her childhood in Egypt and Gaza   before immigrating to America in 1978, when she was eight years old. Her father died while leading covert attacks on  Israel .  He was a high-ranking Egyptian military officer stationed with his family in Gaza.
When he died, he was considered a "shahid," a martyr for jihad. His posthumous status earned Nonie and her family an elevated position in Muslim society.

But Darwish developed a skeptical eye at an early age. She questioned her own Muslim culture and upbringing. She converted to Christianity after hearing a Christian preacher on television.
In her latest book, Darwish warns about creeping sharia law - what it is, what it means, and how it is manifested in Islamic countries.

For the West, she says radical Islamists are working to impose sharia on the world. If that happens, Western civilization will be destroyed. Westerners generally assume all religions encourage a respect for the dignity of each individual.  Islamic law (Sharia) teaches that non-Muslims should be subjugated or killed in this world.

Peace and prosperity for one's children is not as important as assuring that Islamic law rules everywhere in the Middle East and eventually in the world.
While Westerners tend to think that all religions encourage some form of the golden rule, Sharia teaches two systems of ethics - one for Muslims and another for non-Muslims. Building on tribal practices of the seventh century, Sharia encourages the side of humanity that wants to take from and subjugate others.

While Westerners tend to think in terms of religious people developing a personal understanding of and relationship with God, Sharia advocates executing people who ask difficult questions that could be interpreted as criticism.

It's hard to imagine, that in this day and age, Islamic scholars agree that those who criticize Islam or choose to stop being Muslim should be executed. Sadly, while talk of an Islamic reformation is common and even assumed by many in the West, such murmurings in the Middle East are silenced through intimidation.

While Westerners are accustomed to an increase in religious tolerance over time, Darwish explains how petro dollars are being used to grow an extremely intolerant form of political Islam in her native Egypt and elsewhere.

In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.K. to elect the Prime Minister by themselves! Rest assured they will do so... You can look at how they have taken over several towns in the USA .. Dearborn Mich. is one... and there are others...
I think everyone in the U.K. should be required to read this, but with the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on!

It is too bad that so many are disillusioned with life and Christianity to accept Muslims as peaceful.. some may be but they have an army that is willing to shed blood in the name of Islam.. the peaceful support the warriors with their finances and own kind of patriotism to their religion. While America is getting rid of Christianity from all public sites and erasing God from the lives of children the Muslims are planning a great jihad on America.

This is your chance to make a difference...! Pass it on to your email list or at least those you think will listen.

WHEN YOU LOOK AT THIS, THINK OF YOUR OWN DAUGHTERS, GRANDDAUGHTERS AND NIECES.

Mass Muslim Marriage in  Gaza

Poor kids - what a terrible fate to be born as a girl in a Muslim country

Muhammed married a six year old bride. But Islam has evolved in 1500 years. In Hamas land, in 2009, the brides are almost seven.
Mass Muslim Marriage in Gaza
450 Grooms Wed GIRLS Under Ten In  Gaza
By Paul L. Williams, Ph.D.
Thelastcrusade! .org

A gala event has occurred in  Gaza .

Hamas sponsored a mass wedding for four hundred and fifty couples.
Most of the grooms were in their mid to late twenties; most of brides were under ten.

Muslim dignitaries including Mahmud Zahar, a leader of Hamas, were on hand to congratulate the couples who took part in the carefully staged celebration.
We are saying to the world and to  America  that you cannot deny us joy and happiness, Zahar told the grooms, all of whom were dressed in identical black suits and hailed from the nearby Jabalia refugee camp.

Each groom received a gift of 500 dollars from Hamas.

Twenty-nine percent of these child brides are regularly beaten and molested by their husbands in  Egypt ;  twenty six percent receive similar abuse in  Jordan .

Every year, three million Muslim girls are subjected to genital mutilation, according to UNICEF.

Yes, it's happening in America !!!

 PICTURES FROM  LONDON  ....

Makes you wonder doesn't it...can you imagine having a Christian demonstration against Islam in downtown Baghdad  ?

View the pictures below and decide how you really feel about the future of the Western World.  These pictures are of Muslims marching through the STREETS OF LONDON during their  'Religion of Peace Demonstration.'

You need to forward this one to everyone!  These pictures tell it all!
Muslims have stated that  England  will be the first country they take over!

I may have to submit a second reply to this later, Leila. At the moment I'm on a computer that won't let me see the pictures, so I can only respond to the text-based content.

With that in mind, there's enough posted here to validate that at least some of the content is false. I checked out the Snopes anti-hysteria website regarding the mass weddings conducted by Hamas (at http://www.snopes.com/photos/politics/masswedding.asp ), and discovered that on-site reporters noted the presence of many young girls in formal wear - all of them just friends and family of the brides and grooms. The mass wedding was held during a truce between Hamas and Israel, as an attempt to add a bit of joy to the lives of single soldiers and young widows who had lost their first husbands in combat. It was not an occasion for grown men to wed female children.

I'm skeptical, too, of the assertion that Muslim men are claiming one-year-olds as wives, though there is some evidence that certain Islamic communities endorse marriages involving older female children - at least in the eight- to twelve-year-old range (see http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/783526--islamic-clerics-i... for one of the more credible accounts). I don't know if whether this is properly considered a form of child abuse, or a relic from pre-industrial-age societies where average lifespans were, by our standards, very short, and childbirth had to occur at an early age for a society to survive. At best, it strikes me as an outdated custom and I'd like to see the situation changed - but I haven't been exposed to sufficient real-world circumstances surrounding young marriages of this sort, so it's hard to assess the custom. The potential for abuse certainly exists, but I'd like to see a more clear-headed review of the situation than was in the email you received.

Genetic mutilation is a serious problem, and while it is most heavily focused in the North African and Southeast Asian regions which are the strongholds of Islam, from what I've been able to glean it's more of a cultural breakdown than a religious one (meaning that non-Muslims in the same society often also adopt the practice). It needs to be done away with, but I find it hard to put the blame for its presence upon Islam.

What concerns me most about this article is the combination of factual material it does touch upon with the emotional makeup and psychological inclinations of those who are prone to take it in hook, line, and sinker, without reflection. Indeed, among the many Muslims in the world who strive to build what almost anyone would call an ethical and noble life, there are many who harbor violent intentions. I've encountered at least a couple of instances where Western women married Arabic Muslim men, and had to endure great suffering after finding that their husbands understood marriage to be quite a different thing than the wives did; and we have substantial evidence of the existence of bands of armed Muslim extremists who wish to topple secular societies. On the other hand, those who oppose such extremists are comprised only in part of people who wish simply to protect their adopted way of life; there are also counter-extremists who openly or secretly like the idea of toppling societies, except in favor of their own politicoreligious system rather than Islam.

The blame, ultimately, lies not upon the shoulders of a religion. I've found that we generally find in our chosen religion - whether Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Paganism, or Buddhism (at least in it fringe sects) - what we bring to it. If we are looking for justification of our prejudices and permission to express our anger and hatred, most scriptures or oral teachings can provide it; but, if we seek inspiration, guidance, and a way to grow in love and compassion, those same sources of wisdom can provide that, too. From where I stand, a religion is like a mirror, reflecting back what we are and giving us the choice of the direction in which we wish to grow.

So, the root of problems like this lies in ourselves, in our own hearts, and in the choices we make from one day to the next about how to follow the path upon which we walk. We'll do better, I think, to make ourselves and our societies more compassionate and just entities, more infused with wisdom, than we will by expelling or squelching whatever group happens to be today's bogeyman.

I'm sorry this is such a long post. I've yet to find a way to address clouds of misunderstanding, ignorance, and fear that have taken ages to accumulate without using a lot of words. (Which isn't directed at you, by the way; the target is more a meme that seems to be pretty active in our world.)

May we, all of us, find the way to harmony and understanding -

Todd

Todd thank you very much for bringing more much needed light to and clarification to this subject along with the links. Very helpful. The way this was written definitely sent red flags up. It's definitely designed to pack an emotional punch. Using red text and inflammatory emotional language, asking people to visualize their own family members as small children being subjected to horrific abuse... the reader is very much being led down a strong path.

At the same time, I do know there are legitimate concerns and fears to be had.

I'm glad I posted this, great feedback. Thanks!

I think if we look at the photographic evidence, all we have are a bunch of little girls in fancy dress with adult male escorts.. they may or may not be getting married. Also just because a marriage is performed at this age in a certain culture, and this has been done in many cultures over time, does not mean that the child is sexually abused. The marriage may not be consummated until the girl is of sexual maturity, and there is not necessarily use of force.

As well, yes, the messages of the protesters are hateful and frightening, but they are a handful of people. I've seen as horrific things on signs by other populations of people as well, white supremacists, etc. These kinds of sentiments are not faith specific...

The photos are appearing fine on the site as far as I can tell, unless I hear that other members aren't seeing them either, they show on my PC. hmmm.. I don't have any links other than the ones included in the article.
Just FYI - I can't see the pictures either, but I know the reason and it's not because something's malfunctioning here. I'm reading this at work (shhhh!), and on our local PC's, certain media applications (like FlashPlayer, for example) are disabled. I encounter this from time to time at websites I view from here, but I can see them just fine on my PC at home.

That could be Marique's problem, too; it'd be my first suspicion, at least.

Speaking of home - I'm going there now!

Todd
Hmmmm... I'm so not techy minded (I'm flying this sucker blind...!!!) well let me know if you can't view at home. Seems I'm learning stuff whether I like it or not. (I need techy admins familiar with ning sites.. I do I do)

We also cannot view the pictures, we do not know if it is our pc or something at your end Leila...

We are as much a Muslim, ourselves, as many other religions, we spent three years studying Sufism and Islam at the Bawa Muhaiyadeen Fellowship.  We have recently felt a strong compulsion to get in touch with our friends there, we loved everyone there; many had special roles in our lives.

When we examine this information we see much truth.  However, their are probably people of every faith who abuse children, some of whom believe they have privileges to do so bestowed by their Divines or their Divine Laws.

Most cultures consider these people exceptions, and in Islam, Shariah Law is an exception still, rather than the law, for most Muslims, or so we sincerely believe.

We believe the heart of Islam is purer than these old laws, and that a resurgence of Shariah Law, while being very well promoted and aggressively applied in many parts of the world still represents a minority of Muslims; we believe we must be careful not to become polarized against the entire Muslim world over the perceived faults of a few.

All cultures have faults and dark moments in their pasts they either hide from common knowledge or glorify to deny their shame.

However, all cultures also have values people uphold that enoble them and enoble their lives.  No culture is without merit, their respective merits may simply be very differently understood from one culture to the next.

Their differences do not make any of them wrong, only different.

If we respond to messages such as this warning about the emergence of a strong movement to globalize Shariah Law with anything other than love, peace, compassion, and nurture, we may play into the hands of those who court conflict for their own profits.

Polarizing communities is a stage of mind control used to prepare them to accept wars and pogroms.

Wars and pogroms rarely benefit anyone but arms manufacturers and military infrastructures.

It is not possible to fight for freedom.

We can only have freedom when we learn to be peaceful.

The processes of building peace are less aggressive, so they take longer to reach our hearts and minds with any immediately apparent effect.

However, every religion on Earth carries within themselves peaceful lessons about making peace.

Each religion has had to defend itself in the past, so they acquire many habituated, automatic, semi-autonomous cultural defense mechanisms.

We cannot speak to each other to build peace with our cultural defense mechanisms engaged, we can make peace only by making peace with ourselves first.

From inner peace, all outer peace naturally emerges.

We do not need to attack or provoke anyone promoting Shariah Law, Humanity will not allow the worst of their old laws to rule; too many Muslims will remain devout and faithful but will become disaffected from Shariah Law in the information Age; the practice of Shariah Law will evolve to transcend its current state to become a nobler creed, and will then remain a valid precious tool in our individual quests to understand our Divines and our roles in Creation.

Islam is a culture of many voices, the majority of which are peaceful and loving.  Sufism is a good example of some of the best Islam offers all of us, not just Muslims.

Let us embrace peace in our hearts that we may suceed in building an enduring Peace on Earth.

We invite anyone interested in building peace to explore here:

Our Future History – How the Earth Made Peace

Enjoy!

Blessed be...

Namaste

Thanks, it's probably because I copied and posted images and text from my mail, they're only showing up for me, so I assume everyone else can see them.. I'll edited them in tomorrow.

All you've said is true, Grigori!

A short excerpt of your post reminds me of what Socrates said:  "All wars are fought for money."  Yet while that can be an important realization, more fundamental to your point it seems is the need to want whatever we deem good - peace, wholeness, harmony, abundance, joy, healing, and so on - not only for ourselves and those dear to us, but for those whom we may be prone to see as antagonists as well.

And so may it be - blessings upon you, upon each reader of this message, and upon each of those in their care - as well as upon all the tyrants, despots, abusers, thieves, and murderers, the lot of them.  In the end, all of our hearts beat with the same primal rhythm drummed by the same transcendent Source, and we rejoin with that Source only as we unify with each other.

We are one, and in that we find our healing.

Much love,

Todd

Thank you for your diligence Todd!

Your extensive efforts to shed more light on this matter with as little bias as possible are well noted and appreciated.

Your appreciation for our own work is a blessing, for you bear yourself well.

Blessed be...

My wife lived in Egypt for 15 years, I lived in Egypt for 3 years and Saudi Arabia for 3 years. From my perspective this is mostly half-truth. Yes, female circumcision is a horror, however, it is illegal in Egypt now, since a couple of years ago, It predated Islam in Egypt. Yes, women are second class citizens in Islamic countries, however, women were second class citizens in the UK and USA before equal rights were for all. This is slowly changing as the Islamic women are just now starting their feminist movement. Women are powerful, they can change their world. Egypt has so much western influence now it is just starting change them all. Women are abused in every country by their husbands, this is no different. Also, Islamic law is very similar to Jewish law in regards to non-believers, they can be enslaved, used, and killed.

Islamic law cannot and will not influence western law, it will be the other way around, the laws of evolution demand this. If the UN would address Saudi Arabia and its laws, like it is Mandated to do, Islamic law would be gone within a few generations. Liberty is the drive of humanity and Islam cannot put a dent in that. Islam can succeed without the woman degrading laws, and the abuse is not the norm in the Islamic world.

Overall, this piece of cake was filled with Half-truth, but even half-truth cake tastes good...Each statement may be true from the perspective of the one writing it...

In profound Peace,

Amenmaatra

I like your reasoned optimism, Amenmaatra.  It gives us the most credible reason for hope that I can think of.

Thank you for the post.
