Oak Tree

I was sad today to find out that an oak tree I have always felt connected to fell.

I was outside looking for a branch to make a wand out of. I was looking for Oak because that was the tree that I was born under. (My mom had a dream when I was born where I was about 6 years old, standing under the oak. She asked who I was and I told her my name—which is also how she named me). That tree was cut down years ago, years before I was born, but there was another tree in the woods behind my house that I’ve always felt connected to. I’ve seen it as the guardian of the forest, which I called a kingdom (I was a warrior and a princess. Keep in mind I was like 6). When I was younger, I saw the faeries and other woodland creatures there. Now, however, I no longer see them because I’m not as connected with the forest.

Anyway, I always felt connected to this tree. When I needed to think, I sat under the tree and drank from its spring. (there was a spring that rose from the roots of the tree. It was the best water i’ve ever had.) When I saw that this tree had fallen over, I nearly cried. Then, i felt an anger because I thought my neighbors had cut it down, but once I rounded the corner from the thick branches, I saw that it must have blown over from the last wind.

So, I took some branches to make a wand and various other things, left an offering of a small stone, thanked it, said my farewells, and prayed that it had a safe and peaceful journey to its next life.
