This fish is common to Tropical Africa, including the Great Lakes and the Nile river.

We call it the Elephant fish or Bottlenose, as the fishes feed by jigging up and down like a bottle floating on the waves upside down, with a secret message in it. After all, the Elephant's trunk does closely resemble the Oxyrhynchus' snout as well as that of the Anteater!

The Bottlenose is gregarious. They group together in small shoals and are one of the fishes which can produce a tangible electric shock, much like the Electric eel which are found in the same waters.The fish seem to communicate with one another and their surrounds by means of electric reflection which allows them to find the worms and small crustaceans they love to eat, even in the pitch darkness of a tropical African river at night.
