Mmmmmmm! When I saw these photos I have to admit I immediately thought photoshop, they just don't look real, something about the way the fawn is standing i guess..Anyway i thought i would google it and i found 3 different accounts of where the photos had been taken, these were apparently taken in canada but there was also one site saying Texas and one saying Pennsylvania. there were many comments also about these photos being photoshopped.

Snopes on the other hand are saying it is true, I actually do believe that the black fawn was born but just think the photos have been zapped...

Just a little food for thought anyway!
I'll go with snopes.. :) Not just because I want to believe in this little black beauty, but they don't look doctored to me the photos, they just like they were done by a good photographer.
I think the photo may have had the colours/contrast tweeked a bit over-all to enhance the colour of the fawn and pic in general but I don't think the fawn has been touched up specifically. :) I wonder what the adult will look like! :)
Yeah i definately believe the little black fawn was born there are many sites with pictures and stories, most of them say he was born in Texas though...who cares where he was born, he is really adorable and yes you are probably right about the photos too, he is just amazingly photogenic and quite clearly loves the camera!
Ohhhhhhh! believe me the Scottish ones are.....och aye the noo! i'm a scottish deer ya nooooooo!
Only joking, Lol!
The black variant of deer are called Melanistic Deer, The other variants are menil, common, white and albinistic.
There is a famous herd of black fallow deer here in the UK in Epping Forrest which is ancient woodland covering 2,476 hectares and contains areas of woodland, grassland, heath, rivers, bogs and ponds...
