[Zephonith Serpent Woman]

This is the BUDDHA FULL MOON, with the SUN in TAURUS/ MOON in SCORPIO (May 5, 11:34pm EDT; May 6, 4:34am GMD). The Moon is at perigee, closest to Earth, so called a Super Moon, and is accompanied by the Aquarid Meteor shower, debris from Halley’s Comet. Quite a party.

From a luxurious life of materialism, the prince who became the Buddha gave it all up and came near to death to reach enlightenment. One major realization was that there was no necessity to deny the body its basic needs, that one can, in fact, enjoy what life has to offer. It’s about seeing through and letting go of attachment that is the key. This theme echoes the sensual nature of Taurus and the Scorpio capacity to perceive deeply and to let go.

This is an exciting Moon, even in typically placid Taurus, placed in highly interesting company within the ongoing Earth triangle.

Firstly, it is tightly conjunct BLACK MOON LILITH, not always an easy energy to contend with, certainly one that will challenge attachments. The Black Moon is the second mathematical focus of the Moon’s elliptical orbit around the Earth, the Earth itself being the primary, visible focus. The Moon’s orbit is define by the Black Moon, though it is not a Moon, or object at all. This invisible point—what shall we call it: vortex? key point? motivation? desire for incarnation? impulse?—defines the Moon’s orbit. Named Lilith, Black Moon in Taurus brings out the tree of life connection from mythology, in which Lilith appears in the tree—most famouwly in the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden, where Lilith appears as the woman-headed serpent who gives Eve the (magic) Apple.

Earth sign Taurus puts roots down like a tree, seeking long-term fruitfulness. It is not a flashy sign, but one that grounds deeply. Feel the trunk of your tree—your spinal column— reach invisibly down into the core of the Earth. This can provide a sense of stability and sustaining power that is much needed as our home planet (and solar system) navigates such highly-charged waters in the cosmic sea. We are in an area of the galaxy full of photons sparking energy, light and life force. If you are feeling light-headed, this may be the reason!
The Full Moon in Scorpio taps deeply into this unseen, dark energy, drinking it in. Scorpio is an all-or-nothing sign and wants nothing less than passionate intensity (without attachment?).

I’ve been reading the latest issue of Lilipoh (www.lilipoh.com), an anthroposophical journal. Some phrases caught my Lilith ear. William Bento describes the aetheric as “a vast resonating symphony of wave forms, a frequency domain,” a space “between the atoms.” Lilith chafes at hardened reality, if we attempt to squeeze or imprison her into those atoms. Then she becomes harshly concrete in her expression, so that we wake up and “smell the roses.” She dances around the atoms and plays with floating electrons as if they are soap bubbles.

As the cosmic energy in what scientists are calling “local fluff” swirls around us in increasing energy waves, the aetheric field is evermore open and available as a playground of consciousness. To access this appropriately, we need to be individually connected to our true essence and inner peace, even in the face of the rampant PTSD virus that Bento calls “Prolonged Traumatic Stress Disorder,” that is promulgated in the media and the crush of economic and environmental distress. This creates cognitive dissonance and over-activates instinctual emotionality, he suggests. In other words, under prolonged stress we are “beside ourselves” in a kind of self-splitting tension, in internal disorientation that starts to feel like the norm. The ongoing threats from the continual “war on terror” activate fear-based survival instincts. We can’t think clearly, and actions are knee-jerk responses.

The ongoing NEPTUNE/ CHIRON conjunction calls for deeper attention to how extensively we are tuned in to the pervading soup of stress and anxiety. This new 14-year Neptune cycle tunes into very subtle layers of consciousness. Some people want to keep their heads in the sand, some numb themselves, others pray or meditate. There is a yearning for something beyond the current “reality.” It becomes a “matter” of consciousness and perception.

One answer is in the scent of the rose, and attention to the heart. This intelligent organ can create a resonance that reconnects us to the natural beat of the creative life force. We also need to attend to our bodies, supporting the nervous system with B-vitamins, healthy food, deep breathing, exercise, schedules that help order our day and promote a good night’s sleep, at least deep rest. There is a level of coming home to oneself that is deeply supportive, offering a feeling of inner security and assurance.

A Full Moon in Scorpio offers a fabulous peak moment to let go and transform energy. The detective and psychologist of the zodiac, Scorpio takes us into deep analysis and self-research to ferret out downward-pulling habits and infuse vitality into our days.

The NODES OF THE MOON, in SAGITTARIUS/ GEMINI, like magnetic poles of destiny, are preparing an eclipse for May 20. They are shifting gears now, with MARS in Earth sign VIRGO on one side and the magical-mystical-mayhem of NEPTUNE/ CHIRON on the other. Cogs are turning, and it’s a bit of a bumpy ride on choppy seas, like tacking in high winds—or turning a sharp corner on a motorcycle. If we listen to our organic wisdom and be gentle with ourselves, our bodies can channel this intensity with more grace, fluidity and even ecstasy. Does that sound thrilling?

That MARS in VIRGO is part of the results-oriented Earth trine that has been a big part of this spring-summer season. The Earth is talking! The PLUTO in CAPRICORN transformational agenda, which has ignited much talk of the Inner Earth in esoteric—and scientific— circles, is the third point of this planetary triangle:

SUN/ JUPITER/ BLACK MOON in TAURUS: Plant your feet in fertile ground.
PLUTO in CAPRICORN: Review your plan (is there one? It’s up for restructuring.). MARS in VIRGO: Listen to your body, your very fine instrument, with its very intelligent heart.

JUPITER is a big player in this Full Moon. This biggest of the planets conjuncts the Sun, amplifying the potential of manifestation and the productivity of your tree. This Moon is like a strong bull, with lots of resilience. This Full Moon just calls for gardens, whether spring planting for a rich crop in the northern hemisphere or reaping an abundant harvest in the southern. Working with the ground is a call from the dwarf planet CERES as well, also accompanying the Full Moon Sun in Taurus.

With all this Earth energy we know that the Occupy movement is planning further occupations. What are you occupying? I saw a picture of a sign that asked: What kind of future do you want to occupy? Good question! This Full Moon is about planting ourselves more deeply into the creative Earth response to the cosmic flow. Are we dreaming the Earth or is the Earth dreaming us?

Every New and Full Moon these days seems to have a key dynamic that stands out. On this Full Moon, it is MERCURY in ARIES in exactly opposite SATURN in LIBRA.
Do you know where you stand? It may be time to take one. Saturn continues to be retrograde, until the end of June. (A lot is going on at the end of June!) Mercury/ Saturn highlights the interaction between Aries/ Self and Libra/ Other, as we get clear in our own perceptions with information to and from others. Dialogue may ignite ingenious solutions.
