POETRY CHALLENGE # 7

I would like to thank all who have either visited or contributed to these challenges. It has been fun and edifying for me.  marK 

 

 

learning to fly 

 

there is only one way out

but it seems that learning to fly

was not quite the way you expected

another plateau's edge

another childhood's end

Wilbur one day ,,,,said to Orville

Brother,, I want to fly way up yonder

Orville said well it's to late in the evening 

Tomorrow we can get up early and go there

We'll climb to the highest peak and jump off

Wilbur says no brother you don't understand

I'm talking about soaring with the birds and higher

We could be the first to conquer  that  big sky 

If we can designed and build a printing press 

For our weekly ,, and daily public news paper

We could start off by drawing pictures of birds

If we can make our kites and gliders fly up 

Orville said : I bet we can do this thing brother

We won't get it done in a day , but we'll get there 

Let's go home and sleep on it ,tomorrow's a new day 

We'll build the first flying machine and go to the moon

thanks marK,, the name Wilbur came into my brain,, you know they also had a bicycle shop as well, I was going to put a line in 3rd stanza,,, ;}

Hey "maryrose" I think we all hear whispers,,, though I know if me/you/ anybody tells a shrink this we  would be having padded walls all around us,, though as a teenager and younger I really wanted to be a psychiatrist ;}

I dreamt of flying, saw it all

Looked down - 

I always fall!

It happens to me

repeatedly,

I'm going! Flying!

Fall

Again I'm at it!

Flying! Falling! Wait a second -

PEDAL!!

I love this Micole ! The internal conversation works perfectly and the frantic "PEDAL !!!" at the end was likewise perfect. Thanks for posting this.  mark

Little Debbie left behind a crowded day, and melted

Gray brain lifted from a feeble form, and floated

Red skinned tassled trike sat long, and rusted

And her soul never again returned to rancid memories of nights

Spent riding the roads high on hell ' s trikes.

So there amongst the surreal cubic forms, she sat her trike, and left for less viscous realities.
