Today reminds us it’s time to ‘reap’ (recognise, give thanks for) what we have sown (done) in the past year and to prepare for the coming Autumn/Winter.”
- D’Angeles, “Lammas - First Harvest,”
Time: August 1st or 2nd
Colours: Gold, Green, Yellow & Grey
Deities: Lugh & The Goddess (These are the gods I worship but you may worship/give thanks to others)
Lughnasadh (Loo-nah-sa) is named after the Irish sun god Lugh who is often portrayed as a young warrior and a King. The Goddess is also widely accepted as part of this festival as the “mother who has given birth to the bounty” (Edain McCoy).
Lughnasadh is the harvest of the grain (with the exception of a few fruits/vegetables that ripen in late summer which can also be apart of the feast) hence why food such as corn bread and soda bread is usually associated with the festival
