International Day of People with Disability (December 3) is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. It has been celebrated with varying degrees of success around the planet. The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect.
On December 15th - 20th we will draw 6 lines with sharpie. If you self harm, are depressed or feeling down then you will do this on your left wrist. If you are supporting this and people who self harm to stay strong do this on your right wrist. The lines will stand for millions of lives lost due to suicide. Today we remember Geneviève Bergeron, Hélène Colgan, Nathalie Croteau, Barbara Daigneault, Anne-Marie Edward, Maud Haviernick, Barbara Klucznik Widajewicz, Maryse Laganière, Maryse Leclair, Anne-Marie Lemay, Sonia Pelletier, Michèle Richard, Annie St-Arneault, and Annie Turcotte, who were gunned down on this day 23 years ago in Montreal, simply because they were women participating in a man’s world..
