12 - Perspective (a.k.a The Hanged Man)

Things are not always how they seem. Take Perspective (also know as the Hanged Man).

Here we see a woman holding what appears to be a crystal ball where she's observing another blindfolded woman from afar. Maybe the "giant" woman is a sorceress using magic (fairy dust and smoke seem to encircle the peculiar globe).

Maybe the "small" woman is being shielded inside the ball thanks to the good little fairies dancing around her. The blindfold is also for her protection...so she can't be charmed by the evil witch.

OR...maybe the red haired lady is seeing something in the future or the past in her life?

If you starred another 5 minutes I'm sure you could come up with even more stories about this card...all depending on your PERSPECTIVE... and that is what this card teaches.

The traditional tarot depiction usually looked like this:

 

A man hung upside down from a tree. He looks likes he is being enlightened by this experience and has accepted his situation (even put his hands behind his back, though they are not tied). It emphasizes a paradox: to be enlightened, one must be see the world a different way...because the right side up way blinds you to the ways of the Divine.

Now let's look at my PERSPECTIVE card again:

Our white dressed lady is certainly viewing life from a new angle...maybe even seeing through the eyes of the red head (by using a magic blindfold)...looking through the the giant's eyes to gaze upon  herself GAZE !!. Like arranging mirrors in mirrors:

The Hanged Man (Perspective) also symbolizes a time to reflect...a pause...suspension...living in the now.

Our White Lady has isolated herself from the outside world for the moment (her own bubble with not only a blindfold but an ear covering to block out the senses). She wishes to meditate, putting all other interests aside, acting as a sort of martyr for the greater Good.

Our Red head lady is reflecting also. She keeps her blindfolds off so she can can learn from her "sister" in the crystal and possibly change her ways. 

Maybe if she released her spell...cracked open the prison..the little woman would stay and be her friend? How does that saying go, "If you love someone, let them free"?

"If I can only stay very still," thinks the White Lady,"...maybe the Giant will lose interest and set me free?"

By making sacrifices in life, we not only help those around us, but we learn the mind of God and how She loves her children. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".

Take time out at least 15 minutes a day and just be STILL. Clear your thoughts (along with all those radio and TV ads in your head) and focus on  HEARING what your spirit needs.

Take time to just BE.

The Fairies want to add that they just want their house back in the snow globe.
