You know the phrase "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't force her to drink"? That is the warning of The Chariot card.
In this photo we have a Roman charioteer trying desperately to get his red horse and green horse to move...but it looks as if the horses are struggling against the reins and are staying put for the moment. Both horses have 3 feet firmly on the ground while the 4th are pulled up in a sign of defiance. In fact when we look again at the charioteer, his posture suggests "haulting" the horses progress to "GO" anywhere (like he's pulling on the horses to "STOP"). To add to this chaos, the reins look like they're crossed over each other (see how the green horse's head is twisted toward the red horse).
He is trying to force the horses to drink !!
In life everything is not so black and white...there's a lot's of shades of grey in between. This means not everyone's ideas are exactly the same...not everyone's blues are blue..what one person thinks is too little, another will think is too much.
"You can't please all the people ALL the time...but you can please some of the people SOME of the time."
The Chariot card is about victory..conquest...having drive and motivation...taking control...BUT NOT FOREVER ! The ride must end at some point. We use vehicles of transportation for just that...to get somewhere....and once we are there...WE STOP. No one said you have to control every situation in your life ALL THE TIME...just part of the time (especially when a hands on approach is encouraged).
So what to do ? How about instead of making the horses drink...
...WE LEAD THE HORSES TO WATER?
Each horse is a different color for a reason...because they are different horses with different personalities.
One might like to always go left, while the other might always like to go right. The charioteer should use this knowledge to his advantage and steer the horses in a way that plays on the horses strengths (give a little this way and then give a little that way). Maintain a form of control that uses your brain, not your brawn....win the war not just the battle.
The Chariot card says this: "If you want the buggy to move, you gotta do something...give and take...negotiate the terms...hear out the workers...keep boundaries fair but firm...better to move slowly than not move at all ! Use your head !"
People are like these horses. They'll only do what they care to do....
...so make them realize they CARE so you can...
