"A tune on your lips can heal the moment"

   Stress...who hasn't had their fair share at some point in their life, right? No matter how much you plan...no matter the ways you prepare to handle it...no matter the bottles of aspirin you have on hand...STRESS will get you at some point in the end. The question is not "When will it happen"...but more importantly "How will you deal with variables that are out of your control?"

   I chose this Osho Zen card because of it's true depiction of the heart of the 7 of Wands: Stress. In our card here, there is a clown who is not only balancing on a ball, but also balancing another on his other foot, juggling lit candles in the air and holding onto a leash of his pet monkey...who by the way is going to "pop" the very ball he is balancing on ! (Naughty monkey !) It seems that even "growing" another leg or two more arms won't stop the monkey from causing chaos to the clown. But have you noticed something else in the picture? The clown is also playing music on his trumpet ! Now why would he be doing that? It's what's getting him through all this ordeal...the music !

   Sometimes life deals you a hand that just is doomed from the start. You may think you can save yourself from the stress...you may even try and trick yourself into believing it won't be so bad. But the best thing to do in situations like this is to stop...take a deep breath...and just blow your trumpet ! Music has always been a part of our history in times of stress: the chain gangs used to sing while breaking rocks, slaves of all nations did...what about a whistle or two while walking down a strange alley to help keep you calm? Kings and queens had music around them all the time to relieve the stress of duty...so have the soldiers in our wars while resting at camp. Before great battles of old, the tribes would sound out a great beating of the drums and song to help strengthen the army before unbelievable odds. Since we were in our mother's womb, we heard her heart beating a soothing rhythm to calm us in our world of darkness.

   You may ask, "Well...if things are gonna be bad anyway, why make music?" Because simply by listening or making music, you give yourself moments of respite from your current situation, which may allow you to calm yourself and possibly "think" your way through your dilemma better than without the familiar tones and rhythm.

   Music has so much to offer whether it be a simple whistle of the lips or a symphony orchestra ! Let music color your world and broaden your horizons...
