2 - The High Priestess

"Within each of us is the self that sings sunshine !"

Turn on the TV and what ads do you see? What about the billboards on the freeways? Or how about the magazines we read? It seems everywhere you look, the fashion industry is trying to cram down our throats images of how we all "should" look...and what we all "should" be wearing ! Never mind the sacrifices one needs to offer up in order to "fit in" as "normal" in the fashion world: Anorexia... Bulimia...Cosmetics...the ABC's to their mantra. It's all about your looks, your clothes, and,,,YOUR LOOKS ! The women in the photo here are "snorting" the little size "Zero (0)" dress as if it were a drug that they HAD to have...and be able to fit into to get their "fix" of attention and glamour !

But is this what beauty really is all about...beauty of the "face"? Or is beauty a "light in the heart" as the original post photo implies?

The High Priestess card sheds "literal light" on this question. As we progress on our path as the Fool, we learn to harness the elements around us in life and find out our limits or boundaries as the Magician. This would be the stage we fall into "running the rat race" of fashion and trying to alter our outer beauty so that our "inner" beauty will feel special, too. Everyone who has ever tried to make themselves feel important by buying a new piece of jewelry or wearing a run-way dress knows that the sensation is usually short lived and even more hollow afterward. This is because the beauty that is being highlighted is only external, not from within our true selves.

When we learn to listen to the High Priestess' lesson looking within...of listening to who we are as a person...our personality...our talents...our honor...our heart... then we begin to glow as a bright, warm light from that inner space with LOVE of self which protects us from the harsh rules of fashion, and replaces them with respect for the total person we are...and later...in others (5- The Hierophant)...

...and it all starts with trusting YOU !!
