Liliwa
The African Swahili name for both Owl and Death, is Liliwa. If an Owl appears and calls out, one can be sure there are Witches about - or that someone will die soon.

Indeed, Latinocorp? Thank you, this is very interesting to me as it seems that there is a worldwide belief in the associations of the Owl with death and the otherworlds. How one sees and experiences death will shape the way one views the sacred animals associated with the night.
The owl is sacred to various Gods and Goddesses, such as Athene, Goddess of Justice, Lakshmi, Goddess of Abundance, Lilith, Goddess of Death, Spider Grandmother, Hekate, The Morrigan and many more.
The Owl is said to communicate with the Divine, much as the Eagle takes the prayers of the Native American peoples to Great Spirit during the daytime. Owls are truly mystical birds, heralding death as well as change.
The owl's eyes can see in all directions, and are very good at seeing all things, even in darkness. This one of the reasons why Athene the Goddess of Justice, is accompanied by owls.
