Isn't this portrayal of Cernunnos spectacular? I know that we hardly ever mention the God or male principle here in this group, which is after all devoted to the Divine Feminine, but actually to become a really balanced individual, one should embrace all parts of one's Inner Self in my opinion ~

Amaterasu is the Japanese Sun Goddess, and personifies the centre of our planetary system, and all solar associations traditionally attributed to male Gods elsewhere.

The Goddess is central to the Japanese Shinto Religion, and is honoured to this day as the Goddess who emerged from the underworld and lit up the sky with Her divine laughter.

 When Amaterasu's brother, Susanowo , mistreated Her, She disappeared into the concealing, warm depths of the Cave of Heaven and sealed off the entrance with an enormous stone.

A darkness fell over the face of the Earth, and this gave the evil spirits the opportunity to come out from their hiding places and cause all sorts of mischief.

Having tried everything in their power to rid the world of these malignant spirits, and having come to the end of their tether, the Deities decided to play a trick on the Goddess to entice Her out of concealment.

All the Neighbours were called in to vamp up the area at the entrance to the Cave. The trees were festooned with jewels, the Faery Lights were arranged with the utmost of care and attention to detail; the music filled the air as wayward Goblins and Elves struggled frantically to set up the entertainment and sound  acoustics and Nymphs decorated all the plants with glowing Fireflies and sparkling ribbons of merriment. Everyone tried their very best to create the ideal atmosphere to greet the return of the Queen of Heaven and the Giver of Life.

It was when Uzume, the Goddess of Laughter, started a dance accompanied by magickal strains of musick, that events began to unfold.

Even in the deepest depths of the Cave of Heaven, the sounds of laughter, joy and music could be heard wafting down faintly. Intrigued by the sounds of merriment, Amaterasu eventually decided to go to the entrance and get a closer look at what was happening.

 

The Gods had placed a large mirror directly opposite to the entrance, and when the beautiful Goddess peered out from around the corner of the Cave, She saw that She was very beautiful, indeed.

Fascinated by the Mirror, and by Her own reflection, all of the shyness and hurt which had kept the Goddess in exile for so long, vanished on the joyous breeze; and immediately, the skies regained their opal blue lustre, shining as if to signify a radiant new age, where the inner and outer became One.

All of the malignant demons went back to their places, and balance was yet again restored to the Universe.
