Yes they really are nice tattoos, Pepper, I will send you the pics when they're ready to be shown off :)

I am researching the herstory and attributes of the Virgin Mary as well as the Black Virgin and Mary Magdalene at the moment as 'the subject matter' ties in with my book on Lilith (which will probably only get published in about ten years or so at the rate Im going lol :) - in very unexpected ways.

I am realising with certainty that at the root of all spirituality and religions, is the Great Goddess.

And as everyone needs a Mother, this is not surprising in the least.

The only confusion arises when certain theologians mix up Duality with Dualism, Yin/Yang with good/evil. Duality is represented by the Yin-Yang symbol; where equal and opposite poles work together despite being of opposite energies; the Yin, being the receptive form for the Yang's active force.

Dualism is the concept of the Universe being divided into two irreconcilable halves, warring incessantly between themselves as absolutes of good and evil

This is not the Way of Nature

At one stage I was very confused by the two very similar terms. Thus, there is duality in everything in the Universe; whereas there is dualism only in the unbalanced world view of  the patriarchy.

Medusa, the Golden Winged Goddess, worshipped by Mediterranean peoples in days gone past (returning ), especially farmers who depended on the rainfall for a successful harvest and such.

Medusa has hair like serpents, well, they are serpents ~ to symbolize the rising of, and explosion of the Kundalini within; which erupts above the crown of the head when fully awakened from dormancy.

Serpents are of course, prime Goddess sacred creatures, themselves worshipped as Divinity as the Divinities manifest as the serpent on occasion ~ for the healing powers inherent in the snake and it's multi-level led symbolism relating to reincarnation, regeneration, and infinity .

The Serpent-haired Medusa is grossly misunderstood by many people who believe in the later myths and fables of Perseus cutting the Goddess' head off, and Her sister, Athene, wearing the severed head on her shield! 

Actually, to separate fact from fiction, one must realise that patriarchy is not by any means exclusive to the three main religions of Christianity, Islam and Judaism.

Long before these new religions had thoroughly demonized the Divine Feminine, the myths of humankind were twisted to denigrate, subordinate and /or obscure the Goddess and Her people.

Athena, Medusa and Neith were the Triple Goddess in present-day Libya and all over the adjacent areas once upon a time.

To divide and conquer, the classical Greek myths and later Jewish tales were invented.The thing that always gives away the game, is the rape/sexual degradation/violent overthrow of a female Divinity by a male hero.

Whenever this occurs, one can be certain it is a tale twisted by someone with a patriarchal agenda.

And hey, the last time I noticed, the Goddess still had Her head firmly on Her gorgeous shoulders :)

The Goddess is holding two black swans; one in either hand to signify increase or decrease. Note the Goddess chevrons, lozenges and Swastika, all classical Goddess symbols.

Medusa is fearsome in appearance only to those who mean harm; that is why the Gorgon's presence is to be acutely felt everywhere around the entrances to Temples ~

And just as any Divinity, the Goddess can appear , magickally transformed into whatsoever shape or form, She wishes!

Wonderful , Pepper! They are both just amazing, doll ~ I love the way the artist extended the Dragon tattoo. I have just one more day left to finally finalise( lol : ) my new one. Im getting a touch-up done on my first at the same time hopefully.
