Today marks the transition, according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar, from the Chinese Year of the Black Water Dragon to the Year of the Snake.

The Snake is associated with all Pagan Divinities, as the Goddess' own symbol and sacred animal, and never originally represented concepts of evil as has become the case since the replacement of the Old Religion and Matrilineal societies, with the New, male-dominated Religions.

Indeed, if one ever harmed a snake in the Ancient Near East, there were serious consequences! Quite aside from anything else, the Ancestors, as well as one's Holy Guardian Spirit - Genius, or Jinn -, manifest as such.

The antipathy towards snakes in the New Religions in itself is unusual, seeing as the snake is at the very foundations of these Religions, and, that these Religions are all actually descendants of the original Goddess religion ~ unfortunately, though, the original and true meaning of the Yin and Yang was changed by them into concepts of absolute good ("Yang") and an equally powerful, absolute evil.("Yin")

The Snake, or Dragon, is the symbol of Nature-based Pagan Spirituality, and represents Mother Earth and the Great Mother, as well as the God of Light.

Representing immortality, renewal, change, and having the ability to give life as well as death; the serpent not only symbolises the never-ending Wheel of Existence, it represents the very Life-Force of the Universe.

The Goddess is great ~ all things come from the Goddess, and unto Her will they return again.SHE manifests as anything; and is smaller than the atom, which in itself , contains multiple universes.

In this context , the Path of the Goddessian is to find the Balance within; then, radiate it outwards. And who knows? Perhaps, aside from continuously spiritizing matter along the way, you may ultimately move beyond the Yin and Yang. After all, the Tao contains all things .
