Druidry as a spiritual way and practice that speaks to three of our greatest yearnings: to be fully creative in our lives, to commune deeply with the world of Nature, and to gain access to a source of profound wisdom. Each of these yearnings comes from a different aspect of ourselves that we can personify as the Singer, the Shaman and the Sage. In Druidry, Bardic teachings help to nurture the singer, the artist or storyteller within us: the creative self; Ovate teachings help to foster the shaman, the lover of Nature, the healer within us; while the Druid teachings help to develop our inner wisdom: the sage who dwells within each of us.

The Honeybadger or ratel of Africa has a very special relationship with the Honeybird. One food item the Badger cannot resist, is a nest full of honey made by the wild african bee, which defends the nest and their queen like insects possessed when disturbed. Co-incidentally in case you hadn't yet noticed, the badger and bird share the same common prefix to their names. The honeybird , having the virtue of effortless flight and possessing extremely good eyesight, can spot the nests of the bees, even if they are well concealed from normal view , often sited in crevices amongst rock outcrops or in the crook of thorn trees where the badger cannot.
As the two also share an obsessive compulsive disorder relating directly to the taste and smoothness of wildflower honey and the badger is practically immune to bee stings by virtue of the thick rubbery skin and densely packed fur which various attackers are completely stymied by, and possessing the stubborn determination and sharp claws and teeth of cousin wolverine, they more often than not are highly successful in their quest . Honey badgers always leave a good share of the spoils to the Honeybird afterward, so that the bird does not get stung even once for her efforts.
What a team!
Blessed Be
