Druidry as a spiritual way and practice that speaks to three of our greatest yearnings: to be fully creative in our lives, to commune deeply with the world of Nature, and to gain access to a source of profound wisdom. Each of these yearnings comes from a different aspect of ourselves that we can personify as the Singer, the Shaman and the Sage. In Druidry, Bardic teachings help to nurture the singer, the artist or storyteller within us: the creative self; Ovate teachings help to foster the shaman, the lover of Nature, the healer within us; while the Druid teachings help to develop our inner wisdom: the sage who dwells within each of us.

Hi Ray
It is the continuation which interests me, and the same common symbolism which seems to run through basically all ancient civilizations. The same Cross, the same Serpent and Dragon imagery, the same Triple Goddess and Triple God. It simply cannot be a coincidence that the layout of the temples where both Lunar and Solar Ophiolatreia were practiced long before Apollo took over the Shrine of Delphi are the same as that of Stonehenge. Nor can it be a co-incidence that the Druids considered themselves Dragons, Adders and Serpents while all over the ancient world, the Priestesses and Priests of the Old Religions would do the same when initiated.
According to our Triple Goddess thealogy, it is the Maiden, Mother and Crone which are the original Trinity. Naturally the tradition is based in Luna and I look forward to experiencing the pleasure of acquainting myself with a Triple Solar Path and learning from the sage and the wise.
My feeling is that we have the same common origins, and that academic bias based in patriarchal dualism has no relevance save for the often excellent cross-referencing value it provides at times.
Pagans should write our own hirstory in my humble opinion.

Thank you for your welcome, Evening Star and Ray, it is much appreciated. I have been discovering more about Druidry as I study through the origins and traditions of Serpent Worship, or Ophiolatreia, and have come across some extremely interesting synchronicities which I would like to share.
Aside from anything else, it is the ancient Temples such as Delphi and at Stonehenge which seem to have a lot more in common than people may have supposed
Take the Temple of Delphi, for example.
The overall layout really does seem familiar; and well, I don't hold much with co-incidences any more. Especially as the Gorgon hierogram, which is one of the key symbols of my tradition, was always present at the entrance to the Temple at Delphi. The Gorgon is the ancient symbol of the Winged Serpent, and the Gorgon's face becomes the Red Orb of the Life Force, when replaced in the mind's eye. This being the reason for the wings protruding from the sides of the Gorgon's head, and the Serpents which encircle the central Pranic Orb.
The Orb is symbolized by the Earth Cross, which was originally made up of the Orobouros serpent and the twin serpents which traverse the circle and, their head and tails respectively indicating our four major festivals on the Wheel of the Year.
The standing stones and Obelisks are also naturally central to Serpent Worship and are thus to be found the world over, especially in certain areas which we term as Power Spots. All Pyramids and pyramidions are also central to the symbolism of Ophiolatreia, as Goddess Isis is the Mistress of the Pyramids.
I can continue on about the topic forever~ there are so many things that seem to be in common
I am furthering my research in this area and plan to write an essay on the subject when the opportunity presents itself.

As you know, Amanda has had to leave us at this time. She has asked for someone to take over for her, and before leaving selected Bill Thomas to step in as administrator of this group.
Thanks so much to all who volunteered to lend a hand. If Bill likes he's also able to add others as additional administrators if more help is needed.
Michael, thanks also for your offer of help.
Regardless of who creates or manages a group, and regardless of your level of experience and knowledge, I encourage everyone to get involved and just share. Share what you do know and think of, resources you have, and connect with others. It's people sharing and co-creating that make for a successful group for everyone involved. Often we underestimate just how powerful and meaningful what we do have to share is. :)
Bright Blessings, and thanks again Bill!
