Hi Chisolm :|) The meaning of the erect phallus has mostly to do with fertility and good luck.

That's actually where the name Loki comes from !

I'm sure we can all imagine several other significant meanings ...? lol!

In ancient Greece for example, gardens were often dominated by a large statue of a phallus, which was meant to ward off evil and ensure good fortune. Lao Tzu had another way of putting things in perspective ~

"He who is in harmony with the Tao is like a newborn child.

It's bones are soft,it's muscles are weak, 

but it's grip is powerful.

It doesn't know about the union of 

male and female,

yet it's penis can stand erect,

so intense is it's vital power."

Both the Ram and the Goat are amongst the most fertile of all Beasts, and are thus associated with the Horned God of Nature. 

However, nothing can top a Lioness and her consort, as Lions have been known to mate continuously for a period of up to four days in a row. A happy couple can make love up to forty times a day when really absorbed in each other :)

Fertility was very important to our Ancestors ~

Mars is the co-ruler of Scorpio, and is the ancient God of Agriculture.; His colleague being Dionysus of the Vine.Mars is also called by the Name of Ares

Mars is also the God of War; and is in love with the Goddess Venus. The Interactions between Venus and Mars can be likened to the Yin and Yang, as the natural friction between the equal yet opposite polarities, though not antagonistic, continually bring all things into existence, to fruition and then into death. One could even say that the fusion of God and Goddess would be akin to the passionate embrace of Shiva and Parvati ; which was more than enough to make the whole world tremble and shudder at the core. Love and Death, to create new life in love.

The colour of Mars is Red, which is the same colour as that of the Mother Goddess; the colour of vitality and the Life Force of the Universe.

We'll be visited again by Mars again, soon enough.
