Bay laurel?

One of my very favourite trees.Good for the vitality and for protection and victory over obstacles, quite hardy and evergreen, can be trimmed and clipped but I prefer to just leave it be. It's got a nice upright form and a strong presence in the garden..

Linda, open up some of the holes which are underneath the heaped up mounds of earth characteristic of mole activity, and widen them enough to be able to pour that horrid minced-up garlic paste that is so pungent and which messes everywhere when you try and cook with it, into the openings.. Moles really dislike pungent odours, and this eco-friendly method is much better than using all of the poisons that kill everything else in the vicinity.

Hi!

Mix some red hot chili powder with soap and water, and drench the leaves. I have yet to see any creature that can handle capsicum lol

Second, to prevent rabbits/hares from eating up all the lettuce etc. is quite difficult. You may have to dig a furrow at least 2ft deep around the perimeter of the garden bed and erect a wire (double chicken-mesh) fence which begins at the bottom of the furrow. This will prevent them from tunnelling underneath a normal fence. Hope this helps in addition to Minique's excellent tips :)

Well, Linda, crystals grow, and all rocks are crystals, so I agree ~ I have always loved smooth, black water pebbles in a garden.

Hi, Rachel, and Welcome to the virtual garden! If I could add that as long as you stick to the basic principles, all gardening no longer becomes a problem, but a pleasure, which it should be :)

Planning out things very carefully is probably the most important thing to do before lifting a spade or going out to buy plants.  

I've got a home-made compost heap and I have to be careful when turning it because of all the seeded Pumpkins, Gemsquash and Butternut that germinate in the heap on the edges.Then it's easy to lift and transplant to the place one wants them. ; ) ~ hahah, just make sure you have enough growing space for your Pumpkin !
