The Maiden Goddess, Artemis, as depicted on a vase dating from circa 700BCE.
OM
The Swastika represents the waxing and waning forces of the Universe; and denotes the Sun, Moon and Womb. Essentially this is a very ancient fertility and re-generative symbol, that has really been misused, and thus misunderstood and stigmatised by humankind in modern times.
Twisted ~ much as all the other sacred Goddess symbols of our Ancestors were, this time by an insane evil genius politrickian/occultist, a painter whose very first painting was a depiction of Mother Mary and Child; and who was responsible for the torment and unnatural death of millions in his quest to re-establish the Holy Roman Empire and Aryan world domination at the expense of everyone else who refused to bow down to this ideal…
Many are of the opinion that it was the deliberate misuse and abuse of this ancient spiritual symbol, which eventually led to Hitler’s downfall in WW2.
If the Swastika moves counter-clockwise, the movement is Moon-wise; if clockwise, it alludes to Solar powers. Naturally, this is reversed in the Southern Hemisphere.
Usually, the Swastika has four legs, however, especially when used to decorate Goddess statues and figures, the number of arms would increase to eight. This effectively doubles the potency of the sacred symbol.
The Swastika was used in association with many Gods and Goddesses, including the North African and Mediterranean Goddess Medusa, who is pictured, Winged and fanged, holding a black swan in either hand. One of the swans has a Swastika , facing left, and the other, to the right.
This symbolizes the dramatic changeability, or mutable nature of Death and Life, respectively. The Goddess has the power of Life and Death, and this is the main reason why Medusa was known later on in herstory for possessing the power to turn anyone to stone, at a fleeting glance.
The agricultural people would worship Medusa , so that the much-needed rains that were needed for a successful crop would fall at the right time of the year.
The Swastika is a sign of the Life force, much as the Red Orb that sits between the horns of Isis, The All-Mother. As can be seen below, there are many people and cultures who know, or used to anyways, the real meanings associated with this potent symbol of the Wheel of Life , and life renewed through Death.
The four arms are used to signify Earth, Air, Fire and Water; and , radiating outwards from the Centre, the symbolic representation of the sacred Womb as well as life renewed, is complete.
This sacred symbol is also symbolic of the Solar and Lunar Wheel of the Year and the changing of the seasons.
I have heard once that certain other Religions see the Swastika as a broken Cross. Well, this symbol is equivalent in meaning to the equal-armed Cross, one of the very first Pagan symbols. The Calvary Cross is a modification or adaptation of the original Cross, and as this original Cross and all derivatives were in use a very long time before patriarchy, it has no associations with the Cross of the Crucifixion.
