Chat Room Ambassadors

A lot of times new people coming in to the site check into chat, looking for someone to talk to in real time. Either they have a question about the site, or they're just wanting to get a feel for what type of people spend time here.

Right now our chat room system is a newer one and is just getting started being in use. This means a lot of the time the chat room is standing empty.

If you're willing to help us out as a chat Ambassador, here are some ways you can help.

Some chat room co-creation tips:

• Log in to chat as the first thing you do on the site. So you give people a chance to see you're there and join you while you go do other site activities in another window. If there's already people there you want to talk to, just let them know you're going to go do a few things, and you'll be back in a bit!
• Is the room quiet or empty? Don't leave! That's how it stays empty for the next person and no one starts the chat connection going. Post a message to the empty room - like leaving a post it note, that says you're off doing something else on the site, but you'll be checking in regularly.
• Check in regularly (10-15-30 minute intervals, doesn't matter, whatever works for you) when you check in, if there is still no one in chat, leave another post it. That way people checking in will see that you're still around. Otherwise they may assume you've gone away for the day already and just left yourself logged in.
• Have some people in the chat room? Find out if people in the room share any of your favorite interests and get some good conversation started!
• Last but not least! The best time to log in to chat - is now!

This is an older post, but I do believe we now need to work something out with chat, I have a few friends that I have told about this site. They told me they 'checked it out' and found, they say, no reason to stay with/in T.I. I guess they feel that 'chat' is the major aspect of the sites ... who knows ... just thought I'd mention it.

Very true. Chat is something that takes some persistence to get going & maintain a regular positive chat atmosphere. As we grow, I'm hoping it's something we'll be able to improve on.

i think that we need to work together in order to get the chatroom to work properly. have it both balanced the energy that way people will feel more comfortable within the chatroom. if we all work together as we grow then we will have a more positive feel to the chatroom.
