" The strange veneration in which the Ophites held the serpent which represented Christos may become less perplexing if the students but would remember that at all ages the serpent was the symbol of divine wisdom, which kills in order to resurrect, destroys but to rebuild the better.

Moses is a descendant of Levi, a serpent-tribe.

Gautama-Buddha is of a serpent lineage, through the Naga(serpent) race of kings who reigned in Magadha.

Hermes or the god Taaut, or Thoth in his snake symbol is Tet,and,

according to the Ophite legends, Jesus or Christos is born of a snake (divine wisdom, or the Holy Ghost),

ie, he became a son of God through his initiation into the serpent science.

Vishnu, identical with the Egyptian Kneph, rests upon the heavenly seven-headed serpent.

'The Brazen Serpent of Moses was worshipped by the Israelites as a god; being the symbol of Esmun-Asklepios the Phoenician Iao."

"Moses is mentioned by several old historians as an Egyptian priest, Manetho says he was a hierophant of Heliopolis, and a priest of the sun god Osiris, and that his name was Osarsiph"

'Primitive peoples have disappeared, but primitive wisdom survives, and is attainable by those who 'will' 'Dare' and 'keep silent'.'

'If both Church and priest could but pass out of the world as easily as their names do now from the eye of our reader, it would be a happy day for humanity.'

Upon the quote from Helena Blavatsky's book, I would simply say that it might be better to say "If priest and church would remember that their first function ought to be educating themselves out of a job, then it would indeed be a happy day." Upon the subject of Yeshua, Mr. Robert Feather produced corroborating evidence to support his conclusion that Yeshua most likely spent his "silent years" at Qumran, the de facto religious center of 2,000 years past. Anyway, the Sepher-ha-Zohar opens with the allegory of angels depicted as having human-appearing torsos and snake-like lower bodies. It's probably an allegory that means "You won't understand the principles and purpose of Kabbalah until you understand ancient Egyptian cosmologies." With all the rest I have no disagreement, in this discussion, anyway. Shalom. William
