Event Description

A peaceful revolution is occurring
People are uniting around the world
The Occupy Movement is growing.

On Oct 28th 2011 - We send a powerful message:
WE SHUT THE SYSTEM DOWN.

For one day we peacefully protest in a symbol that will be felt across the globe.

We step out of the economic system and we spend a day to step back into ourselves.

Some Guidelines

1) A 24 hour television blackout where all participants willfully keep their tubes turned off. If enough people participate, this could cost corporations millions in lost revenue.

2) A 24 hour retail boycott where all participants agree to refrain from buying any merchandise not directly associated with basic needs, such as food and medicine.

3) A 24 hour employment walkout where participants refuse to attend work, with the exception of emergency services.

4) It has been suggested and bears repeating, all bank accounts that are not absolutely necessary should be closed. If you must retain a bank account, switch to a credit union or smaller locally owned bank.

Others have suggested - turning off all lights, unplug all the plugs or shut off power to your home even.
Don't use your TV, radio, internet or even the phone.
Don't buy -anything- and if there are services you've been thinking about cancelling. Today's a good day to do it.
Call in sick to work.

Basically do your best to do NOTHING that generates money into THE SYSTEM.

Send a message & unite!

Most importantly, for one day, give yourself the gift of inner reflection, without distraction. Take time to read a book or meditate. Play games or have conversations with loved ones. Work on a creative project, alone or as a family.

Step out of the system and get back to yourself. Turn off the economic powers and empower yourself!

*Note, if for whatever reason, you decide you do not wish to participate in this fully. Do your best to do what you can do. The less you put into the system tomorrow the better. Participating half way is still better than not participating at all!

Comment by Leila Raven on October 28, 2011 at 10:52am: Just to clarify, this is not a personal initiative of mine, but a larger event I became aware of, and decided to promote here.

I do not encourage people to blindly follow or participate in anything just because it's 'there' but to take time to listen to various positions and/or personal intuitions and make choices that come from self. Just because something is right for me in terms of my politics or my spirituality, or any other aspect of my life, doesn't make it right for everyone.

Also for people whose personal politics don't support this, of course, there is no expectation of you to participate, and I'm happy to hear alternative perspectives on this issue.

When it comes to political beliefs, like any other set of beliefs, we are all going to have personal, and diverse, opinions.

In my family alone, which is a very compatible group, we differ in politics. We have one person in the home who feels strongly about voting, and 3 non-voters in the family. The voter is not so sure about participating in 'Occupy' activities today, but supports my choice to. Just as I support his choice to vote.

I encourage everyone to explore and challenge their own convictions, as I do my own. I'm happy to hear peoples reasons and decisions for -not- participating.

Just as I am to see peoples reasons and decisions to participate. By opening our minds to try and understand the perspectives of others who see things differently than us, we work towards greater understanding and ability to work together.

What matters is not that we all agree and share the same opinion, what matters is that we all work to respect and support the opinions of others as equally valid to our own.

We are all entitled to our 'vote' in all things.. this is the true meaning of living in a world of equality, respect and compassionate co-creation.

Great Advice, never heard of Max Keiser, but now I have. In regards to my previous comment, I am glad to see people now taking action, I might not agree with that action but feel that each person is an Individual Illuminate we all shine at various spectrums.

I think it is great that Leila Raven has initiated Occupy Yourself, and maybe, just maybe, in one day people will realize how great life really is without all the distracting noise keeping the masses from a synergetic Illumination.

This crisis (if you consider it a crisis) will create a spiritual transformation....

One way or the other, people are going to be involved in this for a long, long time. The various national debts will take *generations* to pay off, if they ever are.

The one thing I think I can add is that it is intelligent to choose to take advice and education from someone better educated about a particular thing than we ourselves are. This crisis is not a particularly spiritual one, or at least there is no apparent spiritual leader with superb advice arising yet, so for the time being, I will continue to listen attentively to the voice of Max Keiser, who authored the Occupy X parent meme, and is basically smarter than everyone in these matters, and conscientious in his motivation.

With the greatest of respect for fellow Illuminati I'd advise everyone here to do likewise. :)

Condone playing hookie from work? Boycott stores that employee millions of peoples welfare? Really? I think we should be targeting our governments, not our businesses. We control the government and business, we allow the government to bring on a trillion $ debt, we sit back and watch TV everyday, buy useless shit and blame the corporate world. Where there is a demand there is supply!

I would suggest a life long commitment to active involvement in political persuits and a life long commitment to consumer intelligent living...but that would require more effor tthan turning off the tube for one day and not buying shit for one day then carry on for 364 more days for the rest of the year.
