We all were. Except some people chose to remain there, like the San or !Kung people of Namibia. 

The !Kung people are said to be closely related to the Little people of old Europe, the aboriginal inhabitants of Britain and elsewhere. One common characteristic is the use of poison arrows, called Elf-shot elsewhere in the world.

As with all of the other peoples of Old, the !Kung were hunted down mercilessly by invaders from within Africa and by later foreign ones. 

Nowadays they exist only in the most arid and inhospitable places of the Namib desert, partly to be able to preserve their ancient way of life against cultural interferences.

It is sad that so many people see the !Kung as 'primitive'; yet as far as spiritual evolution goes one would disagree with that view. It is all a matter of perspective, when so-called 'modern' man is always inventing new and more efficient ways of killing other human beings, stockpiles nuclear weapons and tortures lab animals to death in the name of scientific progress. 

I wonder who gets more out of life? The 'primitive' shaman or the 'advanced' military man and his society?

Well one thing's for certain. The !Kung ancestors certainly knew all about the Celestial Nun Boat which traverses the skies every day and every night. And, about shape-shifting.
