Put yourself into a comfortable position and relax. Close your eyes.
Now go inside yourself. For some people this is very easy, and they need only shift their consciousness inward. Other people need an image, such as walking through a door, pushing through a barrier, or climbing a staircase with a set number of stairs (10 or 13 is good), to illustrate the transition and assist them in making it. Use whatever technique works best for you to make that shift to do this or other similar meditations.
Now imagine that you are in a hallway: A long hallway, with many doors along both sides. Allow the hallway to appear in whatever way it needs to- have no preconceptions about its appearance. The hallway may be old and dusty, dark and foreboding, or bright and cheerful –it will be whatever it needs to be. The hallway represents your inner self, and its condition can help to tell you how you are feeling inside.
Imagine yourself walking along the hallway. As you go down the hallway, look at the doors on either side. Do they all look alike? Is each one different? How do they make you feel? One door will be different from all the rest –perhaps it will be marked with an X, perhaps you will just “know” it’s the one.
Open this door and step through it. You will find yourself in the place you need to be. Usually it will be out-of-doors, though not always. Look around. Acquaint yourself with this place. What do you see? What are the qualities of this place? How does it feel to you?
Explore the area. Somewhere here is a dragon. Not just any dragon –it is a dragon just for you: Your special dragon. You may have to hunt for the dragon. Or the dragon may come to you. When you encounter the dragon, give it a warm greeting. Be friendly.
Pay attention to what the dragon looks like. Is the dragon colorful? Is it inspiring? Does it seem healthy? How does it react to your presence?
The dragon represents your personal energy, and your connection to Spirit and ability to feel and attune to the movement of Spirit.
If your dragon seems weak or unhealthy, or if it is angry or hostile, take a moment to send it healing.
Make a ball of light in your Heart Chakra –clear, white light full of healing energy and love. Then from your Heart send healing energy to your dragon. See the dragon receive the healing energy, and becoming healed and healthy. See the dragon shining with light and strength and health.
Embrace your dragon. The dragon is your friend.
Ask the dragon if it has anything to say to you. The dragon may have a message, or it may not. If it does speak, listen carefully, for it will be something you should hear.
Ask the dragon if you may ride it. It will usually say yes. If the dragon says that you may not ride it, ask why this is: address whatever issue the dragon raises. Then ask again, and the dragon will probably say yes.
Now climb upon your dragon’s back. Take a firm seat and hold on. Imagine the dragon rising up and beginning to fly. Perhaps it has great leathery wings that begin to flap, raising it up into the sky -or perhaps it is wingless and propelled by magical power alone. Imagine riding upon the dragon’s back as it leaves the ground behind.
Let the dragon carry you forward. Imagine it flying through the air. Let the journey take you anywhere that it needs to. Below you on the ground you may see forests or rivers, oceans or mountains, or even farms and cities.
As you continue to ride the dragon, imagine yourself becoming one with it. Feel its energy, its muscles, imagine that they are yours. Become the dragon. Instead of riding it, imagine that you have become it and fly where you will. Imagine the dragon’s power within you, and let it carry you forward.
When this has continued for a time, allow yourself to become separate from the dragon again. Be the rider of the dragon once more, and allow your dragon to land. Thank the dragon for the ride. Perhaps it will wish to speak to you again, in which case listen carefully and thank the dragon for its message.
Now retrace your way to the door from which you entered. If you cannot find it, simply make it appear before you. Go through the door, back into the hallway. Walk back up the hallway and as you do so return to yourself.
Doing this meditation regularly will help you to attune to the flow of the universe, and can lead to many interesting adventures.
