A Star Connection

I gaze upon the midnight sky

alone I sit beneath this tree.

So beautiful the stars tonight

which one of them will shine for me?

 

My inquiry may seem as child

to think but one has been designed

to burn so bright and be restyled

as marker for my love to find?

 

Does he see my loneliness there

my heart sacrificed as a dove?

A banner for my Croix de guerre

for struggles fought in search of love?

 

I hope but one will shine for him

and maybe speak my story bold.

Restart a  flame that once was grim

for me and maybe him twofold.

 

'Cause he may be just as I now

searching night sky past all the clouds.

If only but a spark allow

connect we would throughout the crowds!

 

If he does see what I do too

that moment we both shall have shared,

a time to bond and see us through

our past losses healed and repaired.

 

No more "someday "...or maybe "soon"

our time will be forever "now".

We'd mark the marriage as a rune

upon that star we met...a vow.

 

To never again...

 Be Lonely.
