8 of Cups (Escaping the "Day In, Day Out" cycle)

Do you know what the phrase  "Day In, Day Out" means?

It means that you are performing a task simply to perform it and to a point that it no longer becomes pleasurable, but instead boring.

Life is full of these "tasks" that we must do (work, eating, sleeping,etc) but the tasks I'm refering to are of a more "spiritually-lacking" nature. What could that be?

• Watching T.V. (and I just don't mean watching...I mean the commercials and infomercials
• Browsing the web for hours and hours on end with no particular purpose or destination
• Updating your Twitter account a thousand times for every little move you make

All of these activities in themselves are not harmful per say....they just can drain you over time of your drive and ambition in life to "Do" something with a more spiritual pay off (like reading, playing music, singing, writing, drawing, etc). Sometimes our souls will let us know that it is deprived and needs something "more".....hence the 8 of Cups tie-in.

The left card is the octopus with many arms...doing many things...but none of them of any real worth to him....so he climbs out of the water and reaches upward as the "new man" who is more focused on bettering himself spiritually.

The same spirit is in the other two cards......the elf lady sees the cup at the top of the stairs...does it contain something I need to feel better...the medicine for my soul? Or how about the spirit body who has left his 'earthly' cups behind...neatly stacked and put aside for something new that awaits him up the staircase?

We all at some point reach this crossroads in our lives for something "MORE"...something that completes us...whether that be a philosophy on how to view life, a relationship with nature, an understanding and appreciation for love, or any other "awakening" that helps us "break free" from the shell of the "Day In, Day Out" mentallity !

Stop...Relax...& Listen to yourself....what are YOU telling YOU?
