This might just be a marketing ploy. There is a company in Mexico called, Altech, which has a matching QR Code on its back page. So unless an Ancient Alien teleported to 1994 to even see that they (QR Codes) were created, and then to 2015 to look at Altech's pages, especially the back page it is either a 'hoax' or primarily for marketing ... which worked 'cause thousands spent the time to figure it out.
